For 30 years People for Community Recovery, the non-profit organization in Altgeld Gardens founded by Hazel Johnson and now headed by her daughter Cheryl has been working with very limited means, mostly financed “...by her mother and the grace of God...”, great energy and remarkable success on solving problems related to racism and environmental injustice, making corporations clean up their messes and training community members to become environmental remediation workers.

Broadway in spring 2010 has turned into a place of walking, cycling, sitting and doing nothing, and New York puts its feet up in Times Square and elsewhere.
